This is an 18 year-old female who presented to the office with large breasts and the associated symptoms of back pain, bra strap grooving, and difficulty exercising. She wanted a breast reduction from a DD cup to a full C, small D cup. Due to her good skin quality and the smaller size of her reduction, she was a good candidate for a short scar, or vertical scar breast reduction. This involves a lollipop pattern incision with a superomedial breast pedicle and avoids the inverted T incisions that can often lead to thickened scars. She had the surgery at our JCAHO accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL under general anesthesia. We removed 400 gms of breast tissue from each side. She tolerated the procedure well and even went to the beach five days after the surgery. At two months, she was fully recovered and besides some residual scar redness which resolves over time had a good cosmetic result. She had a nice breast lift from the procedure and small D cup breasts which were more appropriate for her body type.
