Facial Fat Grafting: An essential part of facelift surgery!

Facial fat grafting is a crucial part of aesthetically pleasing, natural facelift results. One of the three causes of facial aging is volume loss. Facial fat grafting with microfat allows the surgeon to replace volume in the areas of volume loss that most contribute to the patient’s facial aging. The most common areas of volume loss in the aging face are the cheeks, nasolabial folds, and corners of the mouth, with additional areas of volume loss in the temples and the infrabrow areas. At Contour Plastic Surgery and MedSpa in Downers Grove, IL, we use microfat grafting to the face in 90% of facelifts, and it is an essential part of achieving good results. The fat is usually harvested from around the belly button or the inner thighs and processed into microfat. The fat is injected at the end of the facelift procedure adding volume to areas not completely restored by the facelift.
